Materialise Magics

Materialise Magics Officially Launched at RAPID+TCT 2025

3D Printing

On April 15, 2025, global additive manufacturing software company Materialise made a major announcement at the RAPID+TCT 2025 exhibition, unveiling its flagship product — Magics 2025.

At the same time, the company announced strategic partnerships with Raplas (UK) and One Click Metal (Germany). These moves are set to significantly enhance design efficiency and production capabilities across the additive manufacturing industry, delivering revolutionary breakthroughs for industrial applications in aerospace, healthcare, and automotive sectors.

Magics 2025 introduces several technological innovations. The software now deeply integrates function-driven design technology from U.S.-based nTop, enabling direct processing of implicit geometry files and completely transforming the traditional mesh conversion workflow.

Tests conducted at DMG MORI’s European Additive Manufacturing Center (Germany) showed that preparation time for complex components was reduced from several days to just seconds, while memory usage and computing resource consumption were significantly lowered.

The new version also supports direct manipulation of native CAD files, avoiding the precision loss often caused by mesh models. Users can now perform high-precision wall thickness analysis and nesting directly within the software, and export in STEP format for seamless integration with CAM systems.

Post-Processing Optimization and Performance Leap

Addressing a major industry pain point — post-processing accounting for 40–60% of total costs — Magics 2025 introduces several intelligent tools, including automatic part replacement that inherits support structures, and self-supporting shell tools optimized for metal laser powder bed fusion.

Internal testing data shows a 70% speed improvement across various operations and a 40% reduction in memory usage.

Building the Next-Gen AM Production Ecosystem

“Additive manufacturing is evolving from a fringe technology into a core pillar of modern manufacturing,” said Bryan Crutchfield, Vice President of Materialise North America. “With the innovative features of Magics 2025 and our collaborative hardware ecosystem, we’re delivering a highly efficient end-to-end solution — from design to finished part — that will fundamentally reshape production models in critical sectors like aerospace and healthcare.”

Magics 2025 is expected to officially launch in May this year. Industry giants such as Airbus and Siemens Healthineers are already participating in the beta testing phase. As Materialise continues to advance its integrated “Software + Hardware + Services” strategy, the global AM industry is poised to enter a new era of efficiency.
